ABOUT US

VISION

To know Him & make Him known.

John 17:3 (know Him)
“This is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you sent”

Acts 20:24 (make Him known)
“But nothing, not even my life, is more important than my completing my mission. This is nothing other than the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus: to testify about the good news of God’s grace”

MISSION

Make Disciples, Baptize, Teach

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

  • BIBLICAL

    2 Timothy 3:14-17
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[a] you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[b] may be complete, equipped for every good work.

We look to scripture for teaching, reproof, correction and training. It is OUR book, as Christians it is the infallible written word of God.

    RELATIONAL

    John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Christian community is based off of loving one another, we are called to live in unity with our Brothers and sisters in Christ. Love is defined in scripture “as patient, kind. Not envying, not boasting, not proud. not rude, not self-seeking, not easily angered, keeping no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” We prioritize forgiveness. We speak truth in love, we guard our relationships, we are honest, we honor and we look for opportunity to be in community with each other. We do what we say, and we say what we do.

    SPIRIT-FILLED & SPIRIT-LED

    John 14:15-17
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

The Holy Spirit dwells with us and in us as a helper. Spirit filled Christians believe that the Holy Spirit is still active and moving in and through the sons and daughters of God.

    John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Reliance on the Holy Spirit is a part of our journey as Christians. We couple the prompting of the Holy Spirit with the scripture to takes steps of faith and grow in our maturity.

    KINGDOM MINDED

    Romans 14:17-18
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.

A Kingdom minded individual understands the Spiritual perspective. Lives with this perspective. It is not a matter of the physical but of the spiritual consistent growth. We may assess with our eyes but we plan with our Spirit.

    Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

A Kingdom minded individual seeks the Kingdom of heaven first. The Kingdom minded person has an abundance mentality, not a scarcity one. We believe there is enough - enough resources to share and give. Enough people to accomplish what God is asking. Enough of the presence of God to move all over the world.

    EMPOWERMENT

    Exodus 18:13-26
The next day Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood around Moses from morning till evening. When Moses' father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, “What is this that you are doing for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning till evening?” And Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God; when they have a dispute, they come to me and I decide between one person and another, and I make them know the statutes of God and his laws.” Moses' father-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good. …

Empowerment is first about hearing the heart of leadership and then serving through teachability and humility. Our heart, your mind. To accomplish the vision of what God has placed in the hearts of leadership. Leadership adopts good ideas from humble hearts. Humble hearts lead well. It’s not my idea for my glory, it’s my idea for God’s glory.

  • We are a presence driven Church.

We are not built around any person or ministry. We are built around the presence of God. We consistently ask God for His mind and His heart for His house.

We value Sunday, but emphasize weekly personal time with God.

Sundays are celebratory, exciting and a time of gathering together in a larger number. We believe that this should be a consistent part of any Believer’s walk. During the week is the time that we learn how to truly live as Christians. At dinner tables, baseball games, family gatherings; this is where the Gospel should be lived, preached about and shared.

We believe everything flows out of our Homes.

It’s not what you do at church or how you act, it’s who you are at home when you are alone that matters. A single person, married couple or single parent, all of us must be people of integrity. That when no one is watching, we walk with a conviction of the Holy Spirit.

    We are Missional.

We believe the local Church should have a Missional mindset. In practice this includes supporting Missionaries spiritually, financially and physically. The outcome of a missional church is to send. In both a local and global capacity. Relationship with missionaries to fully grasp and understand the mission is a vital part of supporting.

    We are Phygital.

We believe that in any major city we have to re-think how we connect. We value in person but also seek to create digital spaces to pray, study and encourage one another in a high paced city. Some work 2-3 jobs and can’t be at service, we want to reach them where they are and when they can.

  • Healthy relationship with God. Reading the Bible and praying daily. Not only studying to prepare for a message but staying close to the Father to know Him.

Service. Every leader in the House of God is a servant. We don’t ask leaders to fill a title or role without seeing their service. We don’t fill needs to attain titles, we serve well in our capacity to accomplish within our gifting.

Family first. Our families are our first ministry. Scripture teaches us to keep our home in order. Because we believe everything flows out of the home, we must keep in line with scripture to assess first our own home before leading others.

Give Financially. Scripture teaches us that where your treasure is there your heart is also. We give to what we love. We prioritize giving to God, before we give to anything else.

Honor one another. Especially as leaders we model how to submit, serve and surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. Honoring is not just speaking well of, it’s intentionally aligning our hearts to the vision and mission of the House. Honor is a pathway to forgiveness, unity and authority.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

  • God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

    [Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14]

  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless earthly life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all human beings by dying on a cross and making salvation possible for them. He rose from the dead after three days to show His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to rescue those who have put their faith in Him as Lord and Saviour.

    [Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13]

  • The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, providing power for living and serving, as well as understanding of spiritual truths and guidance in doing what is right.

    [2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1]

  • The Bible is God’s word revealed to humanity. It was written by human authors under the supernatural inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

    [2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5]

  • Human Beings are made in the spiritual likeness of God, to be like Him in character. Created to be in perfect fellowship with God, human beings are the supreme object of creation. They are marred, however, by an attitude of disobedience called sin, which causes them to fall short of God’s glory and be condemned to eternal separation from God.

    [Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2]

  • Salvation is the gift of God available to all human beings who, being unable to make up for their sins by their own efforts, can be reconciled with God through the forgiveness provided by the sacrifice of Jesus. By trusting in Jesus as God’s offer of forgiveness, confessing our sin and committing our lives under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we can be saved from sin’s penalty and enjoy eternal life with God.

    [Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1; [John 3:16; 1 John 2:25; 1 John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:31-46]

  • Jesus has committed two ordinances to the church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Communion). Baptism is the immersion in water of someone who decided to be a follower of Christ; it is an outward sign of an internal reality. The immersion symbolizes the death, burial, resurrection and the finished work of Jesus on the cross. The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of Jesus death. The bread symbolises his broken body and the wine his shed blood. These two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    [Colossians 2:12; Acts 2:41; Ephesians 2: 8-9; Matthew 28:19-20]

    [Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:19,20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29]

  • Every human being has direct access to God, being responsible to God alone in all matters of faith (priesthood of all believers). Each person should have guaranteed their freedom to choose to accept or reject the message of the gospel and to practice their faith. The church, as a group of followers of Christ, should be free from interference of political authorities (separation between church and state).

    [Mark 4:18-20; Matthew 23:37; Joshua 24:15]

  • This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality and the proper conduct of believers, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.

For purposes of faith, doctrine, practice, policy and discipline at NEW WAVE CHURCH, our Pastor and Leadership Team will act collectively as the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application. These may be manifested in written Position Statements expressing our church position on secondary theological issues.
